Washington, IL — On September 5, 2016 a glitch in the university server caused the “Reply All” button to stop working and halted email responses until the glitch was fixed even though the “Reply” function continued to work properly.
Zachary Johnson, a freshman at Washington Christian University, recounted the tale: “I didn’t know how to reply to an email. I kept clicking the button and trying to send, but it was hopeless. I had no idea how to reply to any group emails or mass chains. I went hours without letting people know that I had an issue with the website, and I could think of no other way to find an answer about my login problem. I was an anxious mess.”
Fortunately, Information Technology found the source of the problem that afternoon, though the backup of mass email replies caused the school email to crash until all of them could be processed.
