Omaha, NE – After watching American Idol, Todd Walsh, worship minister at Hope Community Church, decided to implement a judging system to screen congregants before singing special music during the worship service. Todd explained, “If we call them specials or special music, we probably ought to make sure it’s special. Last month it was like William Hung was up there.”
Forming the panel of judges was pretty easy. Todd said, “To take the place of Simon, we got the guy that comes up to me after each service complaining about something. For Paula, we got a lady who we are pretty sure doesn’t keep actual water in her water bottle. And for Randy, we found a dude that says ‘dog’ a lot.”
Four out of five people auditioning claim their grandma says they are the best singer ever.
Todd has yet to see the fruits of his idea: “Unfortunately, we had a couple Justin Gaurini and Taylor Hicks-types make it through.”
