Washington, DC – Following the recent denial by the Supreme Court to hear a religious freedom case brought by pharmacists in Washington state, SCOTUS has issued a 5-3 ruling ending Conscientious Objector (CO) status for pacifists. In Government vs. John Quaker, writing for the majority of liberal justices and Kennedy, Justice Ginsberg declared, “The government has a compelling interest to make people do whatever it wants. Religious belief is based solely on an illusion.”
The decision is projected to impact other cases:
- Sikhs in the military will have to remove turbans and shave beards.
- Jewish delis will be required to sell ham sandwiches.
- Christians will be required to bake cakes with “God Hates Gays” despite religious objections.
The liberal justices plan to start a new tradition each year where they celebrate French secularism and the anti-Catholic violence of the French Revolution. The celebration will include cookies made with Quaker Oats.
