Columbus, OH – WXRO 88.5 FM experienced a computer system failure for 2 hours yesterday.  Unable to play the standard set list for the day, they had to dig through their cars and offices to find CDs to play.  The shocking result was 2 hours without worship music.  Artists and songs included:

  • Lecrae – “Nuthin”
  • U2 – “40”
  • Liz Vice – “Empty Me Out”
  • Rich Mullins – “The Color Green”
  • Ron Block, Alison Krauss & Union Station – “A Living Prayer”
  • Andy Gullahorn – “Skinny Jeans”
  • Andrew Peterson – “You’ll Find Your Way”
  • The Henningsens – “To Believe”
  • Sixpence None the Richer – “Kiss Me”
  • Led Zeppelin – “Nobody’s Fault but Mine”
  • Stryper – “To Hell with the Devil”
  • Derek Webb – “The Spirit vs. the Kick Drum”
  • Switchfoot – “Dare You to Move”
  • P.O.D. – “Youth of the Nation”

Near the end of the 2-hour period, some listeners called in praising the selection.  Unfortunately others called threatening to withdraw financial support for the station:  “This isn’t family-friendly.” “This music makes me think too much.” “Stop playing secular music!” “How dare you talk about kissing.” “Where is the music I hear every Sunday at church?” “You better bring back the Hillsong right now.”

Complaints ended once listeners heard “Oceans” followed by cheesy jokes and banter from the radio couple, Anne and John.
